Fran Castro
Hi! My full name is Francisco Miguel Castro-Macías, but everybody knows me as Fran Castro. I am interested in the intersection of mathematics and machine learning 🤗.
Currently, I’m a Research Intern at SonyAI Zurich (Switzerland), in the Music Foundation Model team. I am working on pushing the boundaries of generative AI for sound effects and music, with a particular focus in the sampling mechanisms of diffusion and flow matching models.
I’m also a PhD candidate in the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Granada, Spain. My PhD thesis focused on developing new probabilistic methods for weakly supervised learning and inverse imaging problems, with a particular emphasis on the application of these techniques to the medical domain. My supervisors are Rafael Molina Soriano, and Pablo Morales Álvarez at the University of Granada, and Aggelos K. Katsaggelos at Northwestern University, USA, where I’ve also been a visiting PhD student.
I hold a BSc in Mathematics, a BSc in Computer Science, and an MSc in Data Science and Computer Engineering.
